How to turn text into music

Everything happens in the browser after you create an account with email or Google.

  1. Write your description

In Describe it mode, type the genre, mood, instruments, energy and purpose of the track in plain English.

  2. Choose vocals or instrumental

Keep vocals on for a sung track, pick a vocal preference, or flip the instrumental switch for music only.

  3. Generate two versions

One creation uses 2 credits and usually takes a minute or two. Both takes land in your Library.

  4. Compare and adjust

Listen to both. If neither fits, change one part of the prompt, such as the instruments or the energy, and try again.

Prompt anatomy

What goes into a good text-to-music prompt

The AI reads your description as creative direction, not as a strict recipe. Covering these six areas usually gets you closer on the first try than a single genre word does.

Genre

Name one main style and, if you like, one influence: "indie folk with a touch of Americana" is clearer than a list of five genres.

Mood

Pick two or three feeling words that point the same way, such as hopeful, warm and unhurried. Contradicting moods tend to blur the result.

Instruments

Mention the sounds you want to hear up front: fingerpicked acoustic guitar, brushed drums, a cello line, analog synth pads.

Tempo and energy

Words like slow, mid-tempo, driving or building give the model a direction. Treat any BPM you write as a hint it interprets, not an exact setting.

Structure

If shape matters, say so: a quiet intro that builds, a big final chorus, or a steady loop with no dramatic changes.

Use case

Telling it where the music will live, such as a wedding slideshow, a workout clip or a game menu, helps it choose sensible pacing and density.

Vocals or not

Vocal tracks, instrumentals and your own lyrics

The same prompt can come back as a song with singing or as pure music, depending on a couple of choices you make before generating.

  • Leave vocals on and the AI writes and sings its own lyrics based on your description; set a male or female vocal preference if you have one.
  • Turn on the instrumental switch when you need music without any singing, for example under narration or as a study track.
  • Already have words? Switch to lyrics mode, paste up to 5,000 characters of your own lyrics and add a style. The lyrics-to-song page walks through that flow.
  • Free accounts create with the V6 Lite model; V6 Pro and V6 Studio model options open up on any paid plan.
Honest limits

What text to music can't do here

Knowing the boundaries saves credits and frustration.

  • The output is one finished, mixed audio file. There are no stems, no MIDI export and no multitrack editing.
  • You can't set an exact song length; duration varies from one generation to the next.
  • Results are interpretations of your text, so two versions of the same prompt can differ noticeably. That's why each creation returns two takes.
  • It isn't designed to clone a real artist's voice. Describe the sound you're after instead of naming a singer.
  • Listening works on every account, but downloading audio requires a paid plan.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How does text to music AI work on Music AI Generator?

You type a description of the music you want, and the model generates an original track that follows that direction. It interprets genre, mood, instruments and energy words together, then returns two versions to your Library, usually within a minute or two.

How long should my text prompt be?

One to three sentences is usually enough. Aim to cover genre, mood, a few instruments, energy and where the music will be used. Very long prompts with conflicting ideas tend to produce muddier results than a focused description.

Is text to song different from text to music?

Only in whether you want singing. With vocals on, your text becomes a song with AI-written lyrics. With the instrumental switch on, it becomes music without vocals. If you want specific words sung, use lyrics mode instead of a description.

How many credits does one creation cost?

Each creation costs 2 credits and returns two versions. New accounts receive 2 free starter credits (the amount can be lower in some countries), which covers one creation. Paid plans add weekly or monthly credits.

Can I download what I make on a free account?

Free accounts can listen to their tracks in the app. Downloading audio requires a paid plan, which also unlocks the V6 Pro and V6 Studio model options.

Can I use text-to-music results commercially?

Pro and Studio subscribers can generate a song-specific, non-exclusive Content Usage License from the Library for eligible commercial projects, subject to its terms and any third-party rights. Starter, Basic and free-credit use don't include that license. See the Music Usage & Licensing page for details.
